Ian joined Houseal Lavigne Associates in 2016. He specializes in economic development and housing planning. Ian has previous experience working for a private sector market analysis firm, government agencies, and a housing research think tank.
Ian’s favorite part of any community is its commercial districts. Commercial districts are places where residents meet and interact with their neighbors. It’s where residents define their community to themselves and to visitors. He is interested in finding out what barriers and opportunities exist for these districts so these communities can thrive.
Ian has a Bachelor’s in Arts in Geography from DePaul University and a Master’s in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has experience working for the Office of Mayor of Chicago, the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) and the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP). He also volunteers in his community and is a founding member of the Ravenswood Neighbors Association.
