Welcome to the City of Benton Harbor's Master Plan Project Website - a website dedicated to enhancing public involvement and awareness throughout the development of the Master Plan.

A special Thank-You to everyone that attended the January 13th, 2010 Visioning Charrette!

The next step in the process is a Public Meeting that will be hosted by the Master Plan Advisory Committee to review the preliminary vision, goals and objectives for the City as well as prelimianry plans and recommendations. The next meeting will be held on March 23, 2010, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Carl Brown Center (Business Growth Center, 200 Paw Paw Avenue.).  Please go to the "News" section of this website for more details about the meeting.

The Master Plan is a comprehensive long-range plan intended to guide growth and development of the community which includes analysis, recommendations, and proposals for the community's population, economy, housing transportation, community facilities, and land use. A Master Plan Update is needed for Benton Harbor to meet and plan for future challenges facing the City including preserving the City's historic character, meeting future housing needs, and economic development. An updated Master Plan will need to recognize the local environment as an asset and protect it, make enhancements to existing infrastructure, solve existing transportation problems, meet future greenspace requirements, improve the quality of life of all residents, and more.

This website will keep residents informed of meeting dates and times, post press releases, host online questionnaires, and provide opportunities for feedback. As drafts of the Master Plan are prepared, and after initial review by the Master Plan Advisory Committee, they will be posted on this site for review and comment by the community.

All areas of the website are available for viewing. It is not necessary to login. However, you can create a login to the site to be automatically made aware of site updates and meeting dates as they are scheduled.
