The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is performing a Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Study (Phase I Study) for Buffalo Grove Road from Deerfield Parkway to IL Route 22 in Lake County. The purpose of the Phase I Study is to evaluate the long term improvement needs for Buffalo Grove Road in compliance with criteria for environmental studies. A concrete bike path (8' wide) runs along the east side of Buffalo Grove Road for most of its length. Just north of Aptakisic Road the path moves into the subdivision to the west before working its way back to Buffalo Grove Road. The Village of Buffalo Grove is interested in completing the bike path north along Buffalo Grove Road where there is currently a gap. The Phase I Study will be comprised of the following tasks:

  • Topographic Existing Conditions, Right-of-Way Survey and Base Plan Preparation
  • Soils Analysis
  • Pavement Analysis
  • Structural Evaluation of Culverts
  • Traffic Analyses
  • Environmental Studies
  • Green Infrastructure Design
  • Preliminary Drainage and Hydraulic Studies
  • Preliminary Roadway Design

There will be three public meetings during the Phase I Study. The first public meeting was held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on November 8, 2011 at Twin Groves Middle School. Exhibits from the public meeting can be found on the "Maps and Exhibits" page of this website. All comments must be postmarked by November 22, 2011 in order to be included in the public record.  The second meeting will present the proposed improvements. The third meeting would include a presentation of the final plan. Notification of these public meetings will be mailed to adjacent residents and elected officials, as well as posted on the project website and Village of Buffalo Grove website.
