About the Study

The Village of Glen Ellyn was awarded a Community Planning Grant from the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) to fund a Downtown Streetscape Plan and Parking Study. This study is intended to advance some of the recommendations of the Village’s Downtown Strategic Plan related to streetscape enhancements and parking.

A project Steering Committee has been formed to oversee the planning process and work with the Consultants and Village staff. The project is targeted for completion in April 2013. The Village has prepared a process that involves extensive community outreach and opportunities for public input.

This website is specifically dedicated to the Streetscape and Parking Study. Here you will find links to project news, schedules and documents as they become available. An online Visual Preference Survey as well as separate questionnaires for residents and the business community has also been prepared.

In addition to this website, traditional face to face workshops will be held. Dates for those meetings will be announced and posted as they are scheduled.

STEERING COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS ADOPTION OF PLAN

At its April 10 meeting, The Project Steering Committee for the Streetscape and Parking Study formally recommended approval of the plan and forwarded to the Village Board. The Committee provided input on several issues and requested some modifications before voting on the recommendation. The Village Board will review the Plan at an upcoming meeting later in May.

COMMUNITY MEETING CONDUDCTED

A meeting was conducted on the evening of Wednesday March 20 for Glen Ellyn residents to review draft plan recommendations. Two separate presentations were made by the consulting team. Following the presentations, a question and answer session was conducted in which residents were able to weigh on the draft plans. Based on input received at that meeting, the plan was revised and submitted to the Project Steering Committee for additional review. The Steering Committee will conduct additional review at their upcoming meeting before forwarding a recommendation to the Village Board.
