Draft Comprehensive Plan Available

A copy of the draft Comprehensive Plan can be downloaded and viewed from the 'Documents' page of this website. A draft of the Comprehensive Plan was submitted to the Plan Commission for review. Pending a list of topics for further discussion (as noted in the draft Plan), the Plan will be approved by the Plan Commission and recommended to the City Council for adoption. We invite everyone to review the draft Comprehensive Plan and continue to provide us with comments and input to ensure the Plan is truly reflective of the desires and aspirations of the Muskogee community.

Planning Commission reviewing draft Comprehensive Plan

The Planning Commission is in the process of reviewing draft Comprehensive Plan. An updated draft of the Plan for public review will be posted in January.

State of the Community Report Posted

A copy of the State of the Community Report can be found on the Documents Page of this website. The Report will serve as the foundation for the next steps in the planning process.

October 21, 2010 Community Visioning Workshop

A “Visioning” Workshop will be held the evening of October 21, 2010 at 7 p.m. at the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. This will be a fun, interactive workshop where Muskogee residents and business owners will have an opportunity to help craft the new Comprehensive Plan and Land Use Map Update for the City of Muskogee.

Resident and Business Questionnaires Deadline Extended

Questionnaires have been posted on the project website. One has been designed for residents, and the other has been designed for businesses in the community. In order for your responses to be considered in our planning program, your questionnaire must be received by October 25, 2010.

Resident and Business Owner Workshops Conducted

A meeting was held for Muskogee residents on the evening of August 5, 2010. Residents from throughout the City’s four wards attended and discussed a variety of issues ranging from traffic to annexation. The meeting was well attended and, because of the lively discussion, continued well past the scheduled ending time.

A special workshop just for Muskogee business owners was also held that same evening, following the Resident meeting. Business owners were encouraged to share their ideas and concerns facing the business community. The consultant team was invited to attend a discussion at the October 22 Chamber meeting to further discuss business and economic development ideas.

If you were not able to attend, there will be other opportunities to be involved. If you were in attendance, please continue to stay involved. You can also share your thoughts and ideas on this website by taking the resident or business owner questionnaire under “Participate”.

Thank-you to everyone who attended the first community workshop. We are currently summarizing the results, and will post them on the project website when they are completed. The next public meeting date/location has yet to be determined, but will be posted once the date is finalized.
