Loud Stereos and Mufflers
Modified By K H on 1/16/2009 7:38:29 PM)
Does anyone else get frustrated with the noise from people who modify their cars to be loud? I often have things vibrate in my home and I am awakened at night from these sounds. What can be done?

Re: Loud Stereos and Mufflers
I agree. I think this is a huge noise pollution problem. In Downers Grove I think the muffler problem is bigger than the loud music problem. We constantly have the huge pickup trucks gunning down the street. My guess is that there is already an ordinance against noise of the level we are discussing. But the issue is enforcement and actually issuing tickets to those who don't comply.

Re: Loud Stereos and Mufflers
That definitely comes down to policing and enforcement of the already established laws.

There are noise polution laws already in place and the village should do a better job enforcing those laws. This time of year, the loud music isn't as much of an issue compared to when the weather warms up.

This DEFINITELY needs to be addressed as part of TCD3. My guess is that it is most prominent near major roads (Maple, Ogden, Cermak/22nd) and high schools.
