Downtown Revitalization Plan Interim Report
The Downtown Revitalization Plan Interim Report has been uploaded to the Project Website. The Interim Report is a working document that provides insight into the Downtown. It does not contain recommendations or strategies for implementation, and is intended solely to provide background information for subsequent planning efforts. The interim report provides a “snapshot” of the Downtown as it exists today, rather than what the Downtown might look like in the future.

Vision Workshop
On December 15, 2009, a visioning workshop was held with the Huntley community to work towards establishing an overall “vision” for the Downtown.  The Vision will provide focus and direction for subsequent planning activities.  The visioning workshop allowed residents, business owners, and elected and appointed officials to explore, examine and discuss approaches for addressing issues facing the Downtown.  The workshop was attended by nearly 40 people, comprised of a mix of residents, property owners, business owners and elected officials. The attendees were divided amongst seven groups to facilitate small group discussions where each group worked through a hands-on creative Charrette process to develop “visions” for the Downtown in the year 2030.

Community Workshop #2 - Dec 15 at 6:00pm
The Village of Huntley is continuing work to develop a Downtown Revitalization Plan to provide a long-range revitalization program that will serve to enhance and clearly define Downtown Huntley. The planning process has been carefully designed to involve the community from beginning to end. Citizen participation is vital to developing the Downtown Revitalization Plan.

Several “community outreach” components have been created to involve the residents, businesses, and property owners of the Village of Huntley. The first Community Workshop was held on September 2, 2009, to secure local views on problems, issues and potentials within Downtown Huntley. Since the Community Workshop, an extensive analysis has been completed of the existing physical, regulatory, and market conditions affecting the Downtown.

The next Community Workshop will be held on Tuesday, December 15th at 6:00 p.m. in the Village Board Room, 10987 Main Street, Huntley. The Workshop will be a “hands-on” opportunity for residents, businesses and property owners to work together to develop a clear vision for the Downtown. The feedback from the Workshop will establish the Vision, Goals, and Objectives for the Downtown Revitalization Plan, and serve as the foundation for the preparation of conceptual development plans and guidelines.

Community Workshop Summary

On September 2, 2009, the first Downtown/Community Workshop took place at the Huntley Village Hall. Workshop attendees included elected and appointed Village officials, residents and business owners. The purpose of this community outreach event was to allow the community to share their opinions before recommendations are formulated. The workshop reviewed the purpose of the Downtown Revitalization Plan and the planning process to be undertaken, and included an interactive keypad polling session that provided attendees with the means to instantly respond to questions, ideas and images. The summary of this meeting can be found in the Documents Section.

RPSC Meeting Summary
On August 26, 2009, a meeting was held with the Revitalization Plan Steering Committee (RPSC) to set the foundation for the Downtown Revitalization Plan’s planning program. The purpose of the workshop was to review the objectives of the Downtown Revitalization Plan, review the planning process and schedule, establish the role of the RPSC, and identify key issues, concerns and assets for the Downtown. The workshop provided the RPSC with the opportunity to voice their opinion on the future of Downtown Huntley and to identify concerns and aspirations. The summary of this meeting can be found in the Documents Section.

Community Workshop Sept 2 at 6:00pm

The planning process has been carefully designed to involve the community from beginning to end. Citizen participation is vital to developing the Downtown Revitalization Plan. Several “community outreach” components have been created to involve the residents, businesses, and property owners of the Village of Huntley. The next step in the process is a Community Workshop to be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Village of Huntley Village Hall at 10987 Main Street.

The purpose of this Community Workshop is three fold: (1) to solicit feedback from residents and Downtown business and property owners regarding their aspirations and concerns related to the Downtown Revitalization Plan; (2) to review key findings and recommendations of past plans and studies including the Village’s Comprehensive Plan; and (3) secure local views on problems, issues and potentials within Downtown Huntley.

The workshop is an engaging, creative, and interactive experience designed to review, discuss, and identify conditions and potentials within the Downtown. The results and feedback from the Workshop will be used in conjunction with other steps in the planning process to establish the Vision, Goals, and Objectives for the Downtown Revitalization Plan, and serve as the foundation for the preparation of conceptual development plans and guidelines.
