The Village of Richton Park is undertaking an effort that will define its future for the next 15 to 20 years! This effort will result in two critical products; 1) a new Comprehensive Plan that will identify Village-wide policies related to land use and development, growth and annexation, transportation, environment, community facilities and more, and 2) an updated zoning ordinance that will help implement the new Comprehensive Plan by guiding how lands throughout the Village are developed.
This effort is being funded in large part by a grant from the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP). CMAP sponsors a Local Technical Asisstance (LTA) grant program that enables communities in Chicagoland to advance planning in order to maximize the benefits of local assets and create a more sustainable region as a whole. The Richton Park Comprehensive Plan will be guided by CMAP's regional plan entitiled GoTo 2040. For more information regarding this plan, please visit http://www.cmap.illinois.gov/2040/main.
The 18-month comprehensive planning and zoning update process represents a great opportunity for residents to communicate what they believe to be the strengths and weaknesses of the community, and to prioritize what issues are most important for the Village to address in the near term and in the future. The planning process is designed to promote community involvement and encourage citizen participation. Community outreach is included throughout the entire planning process. We know that the success of this planning effort will depend on engaging our community. This website is just one of many ways you can participate in the planning process.
