Aurora Places will be a new vision for the City’s future and will guide Aurora in its decisions for the next 10-20 years.
What is Aurora Places?
Aurora Places will be the City’s “road map,” detailing a long-term vision for land use and development. Aurora Places will answer the questions: “What should Aurora look like in 10-20 years?” and “How will we get there?”
What are the contents of Aurora Places?
As the City’s Comprehensive Plan, Aurora Places will outline the present day challenges and opportunities in the City, describe future goals and objectives for development, and include an action plan on how to achieve these goals and objectives.
Aurora Places will include policies related to: land use and development; residential, commercial, and industrial areas; transportation and mobility; parks, recreation, and environmental features; public facilities and infrastructure; sustainability, community image and tourism, public arts and cultural themes; and an implementation strategy.
Who is involved in creating Aurora Places?
Aurora Places is a community-driven vision and policy document that will reflect the desires of residents. An Advisory Committee made up of Aurora residents will guide the planning process and oversee its development in partnership with the City and a consulting team. Over the course of the next year, residents and stakeholders will have numerous opportunities to participate both in-person and online.
We already have other plans. What will happen to those?
Existing plans will inform Aurora Places, and in some cases, will be incorporated into the plan if the goals and vision are still consistent with the community’s aspirations. This will include the City’s 2009 Comprehensive Plan, which can be viewed Here
When will Aurora Places start and when will it be completed?
