The Bensenville Park District Strategic Master Plan will be a blueprint for parks, open space, and recreation within the District, aiming to provide opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and encourage a more active, healthy lifestyle.
What is the Bensenville Park District Strategic Master Plan?
The Strategic Master Plan will provide the District with an official guide for parks, open space, and recreation for the next 10-20 years. It will detail a long-term vision and provide policy to improve existing facilities, make necessary expansions, and provide the community with opportunities to actively enjoy the natural environment.
What are the contents of the Bensenville Park District Strategic Master Plan?
A parks and recreation strategic master plan outlines the existing parks and their conditions; describes future goals, objectives, and performance standards; and provides an action plan on how to achieve the District’s desired vision for recreation and parks. The Bensenville Park District Strategic Master Plan will include park service areas and population standards, open space analysis, and recreational analysis, amongst other topics of interest.
Who is involved in creating the Bensenville Park District Strategic Master Plan?
The Strategic Master Plan will be community-driven, and its vision and policy recommendations will be grounded in extensive community outreach. The Park District staff and the Board of Commissioners will help to guide the development of the plan. Over the course of the next year, residents and stakeholders will have numerous opportunities to participate both in-person and online. Ultimately, the Plan will be reviewed and adopted by the Park Board of Commissioners.
We already have other plans. What will happen to those?
Existing plans are an important part of the planning process. These Plans will inform the Bensenville Park District Strategic Master Plan, and in some cases will be incorporated into the document if the goals and vision are still consistent with the community’s aspirations.
When will the planning process start and when will it be completed?
The initial planning phases began in July of 2017, with anticipated project completion in the summer of 2018.
How can I get involved in the process?
