Woodridge Town Centre Master Plan

In 2012, the Village of Woodridge faced a difficult planning issue: what to do with centrally located undeveloped land. A developer had proposed the construction of 202 townhome units on a 4.4 acre plot of land, wedged between many of Woodridge’s most prominent community facilities. To help preserve local interests, the Village of Woodridge teamed with the Woodridge Park District to purchase the lot and prepare a vision for the area’s future. Upon purchase of the lot, the Village was challenged to effectively guide development of the lot that best suits resident needs and prepares for future growth.

The two bodies worked together to develop the Town Centre Master Plan to strengthen the Town Centre as a community focal point. Using detailed renderings of potential development, the Plan envisions a “campus-like” Town Centre that integrates civic, park, and educational facilities, all within the scenic setting of lakes, woods, and prairies that offer exciting recreational possibilities. Achieving this vision will increase the quality of life of residents, as well as the Village’s attractiveness within the Chicago region.
