Mapping Morrisville will create a blueprint for our future—a land use plan to guide the Town in its decision-making for the next 10 years.
What is a Land Use Plan?
A Land Use Plan outlines a community vision that is intended to guide development and investment within Morrisville over the next 10 years. Mapping Morrisville will result in a set of policies that direct future growth and will lead to potential strategies to help effectively guide Town leaders in making substantive and thoughtful decisions for the community.
What are the contents of a Land Use Plan?
A typical Land Use Plan outlines the existing conditions of the Town, describes future goals and objectives for development, and includes an action plan on how to achieve effective implementation. Mapping Morrisville will include detailed policies regarding land use and development, an implementation plan, a fiscal impact model, and two dedicated subarea plans.
Who is involved in creating Mapping Morrisville?
It is critical that all of Morrisville’s stakeholders are involved in the development of the Land Use Plan. The Town is committed to involving residents and the business community to craft a community vision for Morrisville’s future. In addition, a Technical Review Committee has been formed to provide a thorough evaluation and analysis of plan elements as they are prepared. Ultimately, the Land Use Plan will be approved by the Planning & Zoning Board and presented for adoption by the Town Council.
We already have other plans. What will happen to those?
Existing plans are an important part of the planning process. These plans will inform the Land Use Plan and in some cases will be incorporated into the Plan if the goals and vision are still consistent with the community’s aspirations.
When will the Plan start and when will it be completed?
Although the planning process has been initiated, in-person engagement will begin in April 2018. The Plan is anticipated to be completed in 2020.
How can I get involved in the process?
